Nestled on a roadside property in lovely Birchrunville, this stone outbuilding was being used as an artist’s studio before our clients purchased it and decided to transform it into their residence.

By relocating the front door to the side elevation and siting a new detached garage, thereby creating a courtyard entrance, we were able to open up the interior layout substantially, allowing the creation of an expansive living/kitchen space with bow window looking out to the private backyard. Two bedrooms and a luxurious second floor bathroom complete the simple residence.

A number of years later, the need for a first floor bathroom and future bedroom became necessary, so we designed a one-story addition nestled in the rear with access to the home’s patio and views up the hill to the dramatic setting beyond.
